Hey’o! Happy almost New Years! I can’t believe 2016 is almost over. But seriously – 2017 is going to be a GREAT year and I’m super excited for all that’s to come…which absolutely includes all of the new year’s hottest trends.
While many of the year’s trends make their debut at February’s fashion week, there are always a few styles that start trickling in right before the new year. One of these trends being the mesh shirt. It might make you cringe a little if you associate mesh with the 90s and disco neon ravers, but today’s fashion world has officially added mesh to the trendy grunge category. From Kendall Jenner to Bella Hadid, mesh shirts have already started peeping into 2016 and are a hot item next for year.

Versatile & Perfect for Layering

What I love most about this trend is that it can be worn in so many different ways and meshes (had to :P) well with so many different styles. From boxy and oversized tees to long sleeve body suits, its really versatile. Versatility is one amajor key when shopping. I make sure I can think of at least 3 outfits to pair it with pieces I already have in my closet. I can replace almost any black shirt in my wardrobe with a my new mesh one. It’ll also add some edge to your look for sure. Try adding a mesh shirt into your NYE look with a leather or metallic skirt.

Another reason mesh shirts are great are because…well…LAYERING. You can layer under it, over it, around it – it all shows. It’s the perfect way to showcase a cool new bralette or body chain. I also love how it looks under pretty much any jacket. Try it under a leather or a teddy coat, like I did.

My Look

My mesh shirt is from Forever 21 ($13 SCORE!). It’s actually a bodysuit, which I LOVE. I layered it over a black bralette and under my new favorite teddy coat. Topped it off with my straight leg Levi’s and Public Desire boots. I’d totally swap out the boots with a pointed pump for a night out on the town.

Most of my jewelry is from Freida Rothman. She’s one of my favorite jewelry designers right now. I’ve been really into stackable, investment pieces and she nails it.

What do you guys think of the mesh shirt?
