Is this love, is this love, is this love that I’m feeling? I’ve been head over heels for this Bob Marley tee from Trendy & Tipsy. [Get 15% off this tee and anything else at Trendy & Tipsy with code ‘theartafacts’] A band tee is a classic in my book, but the timeless tees have come back in a multitude of trendy shapes and sizes as of late. They’ve gone from model-off-duty vibes to an item that can be found in any girl’s closet. Rips, cutouts, distress, embellishments – the possibilities are endless these days!
Aside from being a great way to rep your favorite musicians, the versatility of the band tee makes it so easy to wear. It adds more than just a little grunge to your look; it adds soul.
No matter what type of band tee you choose, styling will either make you look like a bad ass or a hobo. Below are some styling tips that will help complete your look.
AF STYLE TIPS
– Roll up the sleeves a few times
– Knot your tee [like I did below]
– Tuck your tee if you don’t do knots
– Add a skirt and booties for a feminine touch
– Distressed denim + band tees = perfection
– A leather jacket is always a good idea [anything leather]
– Try wide legged pants to chic things up [like Gigi did here]
Styling My Band Tee
I chose to wear a Bob Marley cut out band tee. I love the cut-out style; its very trendy ATM. Bob Marley is one of my all-time favorite musicians so it was a natural fit. My second contender was probably the Beatles. I love the idea of buying tees with musicians you actually listen to and appreciate. It adds meaning to the look and goes beyond picking a random tee. Not to mention, it can be a great conversation starter.
I knotted my band tee and styled it with distressed black denim, a black leather belt, and black suede booties. Since I wear a lot of black, mixing textures helps add depth to my outfits. I also threw in my grey wool hat to break up all the black.
