A good glow, lack of wrinkles, and clear complexion are be attributed to one thing…proper skincare. For those of us that don’t have superhuman genes, at least. Since I don’t have the best skin, I’ve spent a lot of time trying different products and looking for high quality skincare to keep my face glowing.
Today, I’m sharing my nightly skincare routine with you. Its may seem like an extensive process, but really takes less than 10 minutes. A small price to pay for healthy skin. Check it out below and please feel free to send your questions my way!
Pro Tip: never never use products with alcohol in them. Whether its a face wash, a toner, or a cream – it will strip your skin and force it to build up excess oil.
1. Remove Makeup
I love using micellar water to take off my makeup before washing my face, particularly my mascara. It’s gentle and effective, not to mention extremely affordable.
2. Double Cleansing
Thanks to my BFF, I’ve learned the importance of double cleanse. All hail Korean skincare. First, I use an oil based cleanser to break down the oil that has built up throughout the day. I’ve been loving Glosser Milk Jelly Cleanser.
I then move onto a water based cleanser. I alternate between a few different ones to keep my skin ‘guessing’, but I’m currently loving Pacifica, Jack Black Glycolic Cleanser, and Elemis Face Wash. Water based cleansers remove all left over dirt and impurities from your skin.
3. Acid Serum/Solution
Next in line is the acid. Acid serums break down your dead cells, reduce wrinkles, lighten pigmentation, and clear blemishes. I’ve been using the new Glossier Solution. Love this product because its packed with multiple types of acids and also really affordable. I also use Biologique Recherche Lotion P50. It’s pricey and smells really strong, but is such an incredible product.
4. Facial Oil
Last step is facial oils. I rub 5-6 drops Rose Hip oil and 3-4 drops Tea Tree oil between my palms then pat on my face and neck. I usually buy oils on their own (like Argan, Rose Hip seed, Jojoba, Carrot seed, and Tea Tree) and mix them, but there are a lot of great products out there that already do this for you. I just ordered samples from Biossance (for $5!) and am thinking about purchasing Herbivore Botanicals Phoenix Oil as well.
5. Eye Cream
Eye cream is a newbie for me. I’ve never really used it in the past. As I get older, I see the crow’s feet kicking in, and I’m just more tired because I’ve been working on so many different projects recently. I received this eye cream in my BirchBox and I am OBSESSED. It feels amazing and really hydrates under my eyes. I wake up with less puffiness and an overall brighter look!
