Naked shoes come in all different shapes and sizes. From barely-there heels to perspex pumps to mesh boots, they all have one thing in common; they scream shoegasm. This trend is so sexy and feminine, often seen spicing up some adidas sweats or a slip dress. Mesh boots, however, take the cake of all the naked shoes out there (for me at least). It could be because I’m particular to boots or possibly because they’re way more breathable than perspex.

For such a hot trend, it can be difficult to balance your outfit and keep it classy, even with mesh. But, that’s not to say it can’t be done. As intimidating as mesh boots may seem, they’re actually super simple to style.
I wore mine with an asymmetrical All Saints dress (similar on SALE!), All Saints leather jacket, Zadig & Voltaire pochette bag, and a wool hat. For me, this looks works because although the dress is form fitting, its still flowy. The slit is high, yet the dress is long. The leather jacket and wool hat add some more texture and dynamic, giving the boots a more down-to-earth feel. It’s all about the balance, baby ! I also love these particular mesh boots from Avec Les Filles because the heel isn’t too high, making them very easy to wear.
I’ve outlined some styling tips to help you pull off mesh boots below. If you post a picture wearing yours, use #artafacts so I can check it out!
Go Big or Go Home
Throw on a pair wide pants with your mesh boots! Channel your inner Kendall Jenner with boyfriend denim and an oversized coat or try them with a pair of sweats and a loose crop like BFF Gigi Hadid. Either way, when you add something loose to your look, these boots elude cool girl vibes.
Slip it Up
A midi slip dress and a leather jacket make the perfect combo for your mesh boots. This look is a bit sexier than the previous, but still bad ass. The length of the midi and the ruggedness of the leather jacket balance out the sheerness of the boots. Major bonus if part your hair down the middle and slick it back for a mega sleek look.
Keep it Classic
How about my favorite go-to combo? Denim and a black turtleneck! This look is absolutely approved for mesh boots. While they’re both form fitting, a turtleneck and jeans cover up, well..almost everything, allowing all of the focus to be on your shoes!
