London, The Queen of Comfy Chic

Arta Fact #4: London is the perfect city for a long layover

Happy New Year! I know its been a while since my last post, but I promise to post more going forward. Its been a busy start to 2016!

Ending 2015 with an amazing trip was the absolute perfect tip off into the New Year. My boyfriend and I traveled to Dubai, with a full day layover in London. I love long layover trips because you can actually explore instead of sitting in an airport bar, eating subpar food and drinking overpriced wine. Layover trips are not always easy, though. If you’re visiting a city that doesn’t have the right resources in the right places, it can be more stressful than fun. I am all about efficiency and, for me, Heathrow is by far the most convenient big city airport that I have traveled to. The Sofitel at Terminal 5 and the Heathrow Express train, which only takes 15 minutes to get into town, are why. A shower, a power nap, and a change of clothes before even leaving the airport was so rejuvenating and a great way to hit the town after a 10 hour flight.

Packing for a long layover was the hard part, especially when San Diego and Dubai are much warmer than London. I wanted to look nice, but still make sure I was comfortable for the 7 hour flight ahead. Also – Europeans totally nail the comfortable chic look, which I love, so I was ready to give it a try. I chose to go with stretchy black jeans and sneakers, paired with one of my favorite sweaters. I threw on my leather jacket and a scarf to dress it up a bit but still keep me warm. After wearing this outfit, I must say, I’ve made a huge effort to implement the cozy chic style into my San Diego wardrobe. Its one of my favorite looks right now.

If you are trying to make this look work, a tip is to pick an outfit you would normally wear with nice boots or flats and throw on a cute pair of sneakers instead. The Nike Roshe’s are pretty affordable, incredibly comfortable, and look really cute with jeans and a nice top.

If you are passing through London in the near future, you HAVE to go to Beach Babylon Blanket in Notting Hill. The below pictures are not mine, but are much better quality than the ones I took. The food and ambiance is really special. Check it out if you get a chance, you will not be disappointed.
